One of the best parts of working at a new school is starting traditions that can carry us well into the future. One of my favorite new Founders traditions is the senior sidewalk. The walkway that goes along the side of Sherwood Forest has enough space for all of our current students to write their names and a message to the Founders students who will come after them.
Last year, when we first painted the sidewalk, we added the school logo, our motto, and the names of our faculty and staff. Students from years to come will be able to walk the sidewalk and remember all of our alums.
Last year, the Class of 2017 added a square of their own, full of quotes from teachers they’d collected over the years.
Just before Spring Break this year, it was time for the Class of 2018 to make their mark.
Next time you’re walking around campus, take a look at the sidewalk and imagine how impressive it will be when the whole thing is painted blue!
